Me and Mandy

Mandy the Bear-Shaped Action Figure

Posted on 2011.07.06 at 19:36
You've all met my very good pal, Mandy, the Bear-Shaped Dog:

Well, this morning, in Wal-Mart to buy socks, I stumbled upon a rubber, molded Bear's-Head fridge magnet, and I thought it was a pretty decent likeness. So I bought it, sculpted on more Mandy-like ears and furry ruff, and used it to replace the face of an old 1970s-era toy called "Duke, the Super Action Dog." I also swapped out the tail, to give it one like Mandy's that curled up over the base of her spine, et, voila! It's Mandy, the Bear-Shaped Action Figure:

"Nobody gives the back-scritchies like Daddy!"

Now, she does still need some pain touch-ups, and yes, she's larger than she should be in that scale, but, still, I'm pretty pleased with the Bear-Shaped Action Figure.

"Larger than she should be in that scale" = Perfect for the part of the dog Mouse in The Dresden Files.

Your talent sir is amazing.
Do I detect a bluetooth ear-bud on your action figure?
I particularly like that Mandy the Bear-Shaped Action Figure is getting plenty of happy back scritches. She deserves them. Hopefully her allergies all are cleared up so it isn't worrisome to have her revel in the scritches.
Wonderful job. Seriously

awwwwww. ...

I'm so very glad you have your Mandy. And super well spotted - it is, indeed, a fabulous likeness. And on a fridge magnet, too!

The neck ruff is the only thing I have trouble with - frm certain angles, it looks a bit shiny, like hump almost. But I think that's prt of the original figure and not your sculpting.
I really like the latter pics from different angles, though - wonder if there's a fluffy piece of fury that couls attach to the distinctive tail you have made for her? This is on my phone, so Damn You, Auto Correct ID in full force, but iKm counting on you to understand. ...
Catch you soon. Sarah
