Eyeball hit-and-run

Posted on 2007.11.28 at 05:40
Surgery completed successfully, but terribly painful. Surgical Team seemed to use the rest of CIndy's face as a handy work surface, leaning on her mouth, pushing on her nose, nad whenever she told them they were hurting her, they gave her more drugs, but didn't stop. The eye itself is also in a lot of pain. She woke up weeping in the middle of the night.

The put in a band to keep the eye the right shape, drined the gel from behind the retinal detachment, put the retina back where it belongs, and injected a gas bubble into he eye to hold the retina in place while it heals. She has to keep her head pointing face-down as much as possible for a week.

I owe about six trillion comment responses. Thanks to one and all.

Wow, that surgeory sounds like such a terrible ordeal. I'm glad everything was completed successfully at any rate, so at least she won't have to go through that again.

*Hugs*
OMG it's full of STARS!

Positive prognosis is always good.

I wouldn't worry about specific responses, we don't expect them in these circumstances.

I'm glad to read that the surgery was successful.

However, I skipped the clinical part of the surgery and technical details you provided.

I get squicked on stuff like that.

*major hugs*

I really hope she gets to feeling better soon!!!

I can’t do the blue light glaucoma test without a great deal of difficulty. I can’t imagine going through this ordeal. But if Cindy’s sight is saved it will have been worth it. Let her know both Mum and I are thinking of her.

No response needed. You have more important things to deal with right now.

*hugs* Thanks for the update last night. I can only imagine the kind of pain she's in, but I'm glad the surgery went well and sight will be restored.

What a relief! I know the recovery will be painful, but it sounds like the recovery will lead somewhere good. ((you and your missus))

Eesh - well that sounds about as unpleasant as one could imagine it to be. :( I'm so sorry. I'll trust you'll take good care of her though.

yep...same thing I had done to my eye...her eye looks like it has a belt around the middle of it. the gas bubble will disappear in tme but it gets a bit annoying actually. One thing though, if she touches her eye it will feel soft as the fluid is out. She'll have to watch for glaucoma, too, in the next year or so.
