Me and Mandy

Introducing the Dog-Shaped Dog

Posted on 2008.08.26 at 16:20
Mandy, the Bear-Shaped Dog, has been having itchiness issues of late. Her vet instructed her to get thoroughly clipped, and then bathed with a nice medicated shampoo.

Awww...does Mandy feel uncomfortable shaved like that? Whenever we need to shave a Persian cat, they feel so ashamed and uncomfortable that they hide for a while :(

It's hard to judge. I had to get her trimmed and bathed early in the morning, drop her at home, and buzz straight off to work. At that point, her primary emotion was still relief at being out of the bath!

LOL, I hope she's okay when you come home tonight!

I'm pretty sure she will be. SHe's a very laid-back, easy-going dog.

Oh, me too! Looking at the end of that leashing seeing a "dog" was really jarring! But she's still the same sweet girl I love, and she's going to feel a lot better...

And hair grows back!

Yeah, she's been chewing herself. That's why we went to the Vet, and he called for the shave-and-shampoo treatment.

Well, she doesn't seem to mind. It's so weird seeing her look like "Dog," though! Still, same sweet person inside.

We shave Fred's arse before the summer got started and I think that has made all the difference. He's not had an itchy problem (until now, which means he's due for another shave).

*hugs Mandy* That's okay, girl. You're still beautiful!

Well, we'll be able to keep on top of her grooming as it grows back in, so I hope we won't need to do any more shaving. She is still a pretty pretty pup.

awww poor mandy!

we used to have to shave Chief's back end when he got hot spots. I hope we won't have to shave Ginger when she gets older.

I just hope we can get her to stop chewing now that we have access to what itches.

The poor baby. I watch the different versions of Animal Cops. Lots of times they have to shave the dog and use that medicated shampoo. It works everytime. The hair grows back surprisingly quickly. Good luck. Poor Mandy.

I can't watch those shows. They ruin my sleep.

But we'll bathe her and put benadryl spray on her itchies, and keep her from getting matted as she grows back in. Hopefully, it will be enough.

Oh goodness, lookit Mandy! I wanna wrap her in a fur coat. LOL!
I had a little terrier mutt once that needed to be shaved ever so often. He loved it though, he would just run and run he was so happy. Even when he got old and arthritic, he would run. :D

She's acting like her normal self, so I don't feel too bad about the whole thing.

the poor little beastie...will you have to get it a jumper/sweater now?

Nah, she'll be okay. She's mainly an indoor dog, so she doesn't get enough Sun-time to risk burning.

AWWWWWWWWWW OMFG. It's SO different! I totally adored her 'bearness,' but she looks like she must be very comfy.

I really miss the bearness, but she's still so sweet, and she's so much happier. I'll let the bear-hair grow back, but she'll get groomed regularly.
