Captain America

"Captain America: the First Avenger"

Just got home from seeing "Captain America: the First Avenger," which I wholeheartedly recommend. The best way I can describe this movie is that it's what 1940s Movie Serials, including "Captain America," wanted to be when they grew up. It's everything that makes those old chapterplays fun, and none of what made them lame. Hugo Weaving's Red Skull is a wonder to behold, Chris Evans' Steve Rogers looks like Jack Kirby drew him, Tommy Lee Jones' Colonel Phillips clearly walked off the drawing board of the late Gene "The Dean" Colan, and Sgt. Fury's Howling Commandos -- although I'm not sure Nick himself was there among them -- were dead-nuts perfect. It's fun, exciting, genuinely moving, and plays wonderfully with its period. Oh, and stay all the through the credits. You'll be very, very happy you did.

I was a little concerned about Chris Evan's casting, still see him as the cocky Johnny Storm but the rest are certainly a heavy duty cast.

There was rumour of a Sub-Mariner/Invaders cameo?

If only DC could get there bloody act together moviewise, they way marvel has.

A generational Flash movie perhaps. I always saw Tom Skerrit as Jay Garrick.
