You know, I was thinking detached retina in your first post. I'm also a "survivor" and would have lost vision in both eyes almost ten years ago. Now that's scary.

My story in a nutshell...I was shopping and noticed half the vision in my right eye was blurry. Went to see the doctor (family practice) and she wasn't able to find anything. Scheduled an MRI and that came back normal (I actually fell asleep in the damn thing!). I had an appointment with the eye doctor and he found the detachment. My parents were luckily visiting at the time and the next day, a Saturday, we left at 5am to drive to Minneapolis where I had eye surgery at the Phillips Eye Institute. They put a scleral buckle on my eye and I am now back to 20/30 with correction in that eye. If diagnosis was delayed for another day or two, the tear would have gone past the midpoint and they wouldn't have been able to fix it. The other eye was starting as well, so they froze that section.

I am truly grateful for my eye doctor and as long as he is in business, I will continue to see him. He saved my sight and no one else will take care of my eyes if I can help it. The simple fact that I am able to see my children and husband made it all worth it.

Please let Cindy know I'm thinking of her and that things will get better. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.

Many hugs to both of you.
